A friend of mine is working in Abu Dhabi in this period. While we were updating each other on our life I sent her to Flickr to check my latest pictures but she reported that she cannot reach Flickr (and many other sites) because of the strict internet censorship.
The United Arab Emirates, one of the world's wealthiest and most technologically modern countries, officially blocks access only to X-rated content, anyway all web surfing in the country is done via a government run proxy service and direct access to the web is illegal.
I wonder how image search works on Google.ae (from here results don't seem to be restricted).
