TomToms
One of the great things about this trip has been bringing my own TomTom GPS navigator. It's an entirely new way of moving around. With our rental car we went between our hotel in Concord and Marc's home a thousand times on a thousand different routes. Then we wen to Dave's home in Berkeley, we went to different places in downtown San Francisco, we toured all sides of the Bay, then we went to the parking on 5th and Mission and when we got back we found a broken widow and no more TomTom (they say is very frequent, even if we had hidden it, they spotted the battery charger and correctly guessed that the GPS was in the glove compartment).

I had the better model, the one with a built in hard drive and maps of Europe and North America. Apparently one of the reasons why it's expensive is that it has all the maps. Well... I still had all the maps, I had a full backup on my laptop, but there's no way to buy an empty TomTom, it only comes with all maps.

Oh, well... at least it's cheaper here than in Europe. First thing on Sunday was a trip to Fry's (using a map, can you imagine?) to get a new TomTom.

It was good to hear again Simon, the posh digitalized British voice I always use which makes me feel like I'm driving around with a butler.
