Blogger turned mainstream
Alfred Thompson about Robert Scoble:
... Of sure Robert, and the rest of the main stream media ...
Amusing how Robert, the ultimate blogger, has turned "main stream media", at least to the eyes of somebody working at Microsoft.

Mac developers
Diffly is Matt's first MacOS X app.
Diffly is a MacOSX application, written in Objective-C using the Cocoa framework, for browsing Subversion working copies and smoothing the check-in workflow.
 Congratulations.

Jaiku abused by Italians
jaiku

Since everybody is discussing jaiku vs. twitter I tried creating an account on Jaiku and got stopped by this error message. Looks like we abused the system. Oh well...

My New iPod
Meanwhile I'm enjoing my brand new iPod. After the very first 5Gb one and a Shuffle, this is my third iPod. II'm amused by how, no matter how much stuff I'm loading onto it, the 80Gb disk is hardly getting to 10% of its capacity. I moved on it all the music I had on my MacBook and a couple of TV series, and at last I can subscribe to some podcasts (recommendations for good podcasts welcome). I would like to put all my music on it, which sits on a big disk at home, but I don't want to synchronize it with my home Mac because I prefer to keep it in synch while I'm on the go. But I don't want to put all my music library on my MacBook. Must find some hack.

I got a copy of VisualHub, a sweet little app which is quietly converting my video stuff in iPod format.

Next step is setting up an iPod connection in my car, where I'm planning to use it a lot.
Getting old
Four days before Scripting.com turned 10, my weblog turned 5. I had totally forgot until I checked my calendar today. Happy Easter to everybody :-)

I might not be social enough...
Yesyerday I clicked on an innocent looking tiny url link published by a Twitter "friend" and ended up adding all my followers as friends (hey, Twitter, how about an alert asking for a confirmation?). I liked very much the "imbalanced nature" of Twitter, and I have just broke it: now my Twitter river of news is full of stuff that it's probably very interesting to others but not to me (nothing personal... this is the whole point!). I should probably start to remove people from my Friends list, but it's a lot of work and it would be rude for all the people that I asked to become my friends just yesterday. Oh well... I will end up finding some new friend.

TomToms
One of the great things about this trip has been bringing my own TomTom GPS navigator. It's an entirely new way of moving around. With our rental car we went between our hotel in Concord and Marc's home a thousand times on a thousand different routes. Then we wen to Dave's home in Berkeley, we went to different places in downtown San Francisco, we toured all sides of the Bay, then we went to the parking on 5th and Mission and when we got back we found a broken widow and no more TomTom (they say is very frequent, even if we had hidden it, they spotted the battery charger and correctly guessed that the GPS was in the glove compartment).

I had the better model, the one with a built in hard drive and maps of Europe and North America. Apparently one of the reasons why it's expensive is that it has all the maps. Well... I still had all the maps, I had a full backup on my laptop, but there's no way to buy an empty TomTom, it only comes with all maps.

Oh, well... at least it's cheaper here than in Europe. First thing on Sunday was a trip to Fry's (using a map, can you imagine?) to get a new TomTom.

It was good to hear again Simon, the posh digitalized British voice I always use which makes me feel like I'm driving around with a butler.
