Here's my first post written on my phone via YoMoBlog.com (I'll have to move to a modern blogging platform sooner or later...).

Think: there are more cellphones than computers in most countries, and even the smartest of phones is still than a PC.

Just put some of my pictures on my Flickr map. Geo location feels a sensitive type of information: while I don't have problem posting pictures of friends and their house, positioning them precisely on a map is an entirely different story.

Where is the map with the pictures of my friends anyway? Wasn't flickr supposed to be social? ;-)

Scoble lists a few reasons why bloggers have double standards when it comes to Google vs. Microsoft.

They are all good points but I think that the main reason Google is drawing so much attention from anybody is not for gMail, gCalendar, gOffice or gSpot, it's for its currently less visible service: search.

I have subscribed to Google personalized search just to keep track of my google usage on all my browsers on all my computers. On average I visit google 40 times a day, but it can get up to 50 or 60. To find friends, to check spelling, to find a way of saying something, even just to think. Like it or not Google search has become part of the infrastructure, I probably couldn't use the web without Google search.

After reading this post about the 10 things google knows about you I did some ego surfing and noticed something peculiar in the results page:

1. The first link is to my blog. As expected.
2. The second link is to my company. Okay.
3. The third link is to photos on Flickr tagged with my name. I don't think that this page has ever been linked by anyone (I didn't and I don't see why anybody else should have), how did it get up here?
4. This is a search for my name on Technorati. Again, is quite unlikely that anybody linked this, I didn't.
5. A link to the delicious page with my tag. Notice that the resulting page is empty, nobody ever tagged anything "Paolo Valdemarin", meaning that google is quite likely making this URL up.

It almost looks like Google figured out that the search is about a Blogger type of person and is providing links accordingly. Has anyone noticed something similar?

I'm back from three relaxing weeks during which I did nothing of what I had originally planned to do and I'm quite happy about it :-)

Dave is doing rivers of news. Now: I have been reading news in this format on my cellphone for quite some time and a few other people did this too. The news here is that now everybody will have access. Awesome ;->

Matt is announcing the beta release of PAOGA, a new identity management application on the side of users and not companies. I have always liked their idea, the challange will be taking it to a critical mass.

Would you believe that Blogtalk is a only little more than a month away? I must start planning the trip to Vienna.

Looks like leaving Microsoft creates much more attention and links in the blogosphere than joining it. Good luck to Niall :-)

The popularity of weblogs in France is legendary in Europe: there are millions of blogs in France angainst a few hundred thousands in Italy and other European countries.

Still, looking at today's state of the blogosphere by David Sifry, there are as many posts written in Italian as there are written in French (2% of the total). Back in April there were some underreporting issues with French (back in April the report showed more Italian than French posts). What's wrong with this picture?
