If you are a .Mac subscriber, you have about 100Mb of disk space that you can use on Apple's servers. Some of this space can be used to host a public site. Following these instructions you can move your entire Radio weblog or a category of your weblog on these servers.
What you need to do is set up Radio in order to render your weblog inside a folder or your iDisk.
Where Radio stores a weblog or a category is configured via the #upstream.xml file.
The first thing to do is mount your iDisk. With MacOS X you can easily do this from the Finder chooseing "iDisk" from the Go menu (or hit command+shift+i). After a few seconds your iDisk will be mounted as a volume on your desktop.
The name of the volume correspond to your .Mac nickname, in my case it's paolovalde.
Let's say that you want to upload your My Hobbies category on your .Mac disk, create a new text file, copy and paste this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<upstream type="filesystem" version="1.0">
<folder>yourNickname:Sites:</folder>
<url>http://homepage.mac.com/yourNickname/</url>
<server>homepage.mac.com</server>
</upstream>
Then save the text file inside your the folder /www/categories/myHobbies/ naming it #upstream.xml.
Done, from now on each post to the My Hobbies category will be uploaded on your .Mac account.
If you want to upload there your whole weblog, simply drop the #upstream.xml file inside your www folder.
Please notice: you will have to mount the iDisk before posting to your weblog |
