In our case we have created a user on the machine named "RadioUser", and configured the server to automatically log on at restart with this user. We used to run Radio as root, and this allowed us to start it even without loggin in, but then we've been told that running a web server as root is not safe, so we switched to this other solution.
So, assuming that you are logged on as the user that is running Radio, here's what to do:
1. Download this script to the root of your disk.
2. Open the terminal and type:
% cd /Applications/Radio\ UserLand/
% cp /radiocheck /Applications/Radio\ UserLand/
% ln -s /Applications/Radio\ UserLand/Radio\ UserLand\342\204\242 radiostart
% crontab -e
3. At this point you will have the text editor "vi" running. Type:
i
and the cut and paste the following:
* * * * * /Applications/Radio\ UserLand/radiocheck
Hit the esc key and then:
:wq
Ok, you're done, Radio will run forever (well... hopefully )
I'm just reporting this, I didn't do it. To be able to do this kind of tricks (that I understand are far from rocket science) I have hired a true Linux nerd. If you need more information or if your brand new dual processor G4 has melted at the moment you downloaded this script, I'll be happy to get you in touch with him.
